Use a venue that is not on Gyftup

If you cannot find your place in the venue list, check in off-platform. You post where you are and what you would love, and sponsors can fund it. Say you are on a beach in Italy and spot a little bar that is not on Gyftup yet, the kind of place that could sort you out with a pina colada. You can still add it in a few quick steps and post what you would love right now.

Check in off-platform​

  1. Open Home and select Check in off-platform. You can also choose it from the Check in page.
  2. Select Use my location and we fill in where you are automatically, or type your country and area or city yourself. If automatic detection is not available, just type it in.
  3. Enter the postcode. It helps Gyftup spot a place that is already listed and tells branches apart.
  4. Enter the name of the place, and its email if you happen to know it. This is optional: it just gives Gyftup a direct way to invite the venue to claim its page, instead of relying on the claim link alone.
  5. Choose what kind of place it is.
  6. Say what you are doing there.
  7. Add what can be sponsored. Give each item a name and a price. Select Add another item for more.
  8. Choose when: Now or Schedule for later.
  9. Optional. Add a caption.
  10. Select Post to profile.

Select Save & exit at any point to keep a draft. Your Home page reminds you it is waiting.

Posted now means live now

A check-in for now is visible on your profile and to gifters browsing Discover straight away.

If the place is already listed​

Gyftup checks nearby places with a similar name and asks "Is this the same place?"

  • Select Yes, check in here to use the existing listing. That keeps the menu and the tab in one place.
  • Select the option to add yours as a new venue if it is a different place, another branch, or another unit in the same building.

How the money reaches you​

The venue has no Gyftup till, so nobody there would recognise a code. Each treat goes into your wallet as money. You pay the venue yourself, then withdraw the rest when you like.

Posting creates a page for that place and a claim link. Whoever runs the place can use it to take ownership and set up a real listing. From then on, future treats there top up a proper tab.

If you gave an email for the venue, the Gyftup team may use it to reach out directly and invite the venue to claim its page. If you did not, the claim link is still there waiting whenever the venue signs up, or you can pass it along yourself.

Do you run the place yourself?​

Create a Business account. See First time setup for venues. If a page was already created for your venue by a visitor, open its claim link and choose Claim my business.
