Areas, tables and seats

Use the venue selector at the top to choose the location you are managing. Areas, zones and staff cover belong to that venue. Changing one venue does not reset another venue.

An area is a place customers are served at: a table, a chair, a lane, a bay or a room. Each gets its own QR code.

Add areas

  1. Open Areas from the menu.
  2. Under Add areas, choose the kind of area.
  3. Enter how many to add.
  4. Enter the most people each takes, and the fewest.
  5. Select Add.

Missing a kind? Switch it on under Your space in Setup and it appears here.

Rename or change an area

  1. Open Areas and tap the area.
  2. Change its name, the most and fewest people, or its status.
  3. Optional. Put it in a zone.
  4. Optional. Mark it as part of another area, such as a booth inside the bar.
  5. Select Save.

Only areas in use are offered to customers.

Remove an area

  1. Open Areas and tap the area.
  2. Select Remove.

To keep it but stop using it for now, change its status instead.

Join areas together

Use this for a party across several lanes or tables pushed together.

  1. Open Areas. You need at least two areas.
  2. Select + Join areas into a group.
  3. Enter a group name.
  4. Tick the areas to include. An area can be in one group at a time.
  5. Choose who seats the group:
    • Leave Keep this group for staff to arrange off, and customers can check in to the whole group themselves.
    • Switch it on, and your team seats the party.
  6. Select Create group.

Seats

A customer gives their seat when they check in at a table. You do not add seats one by one. Set the most people each area takes and Gyftup does the rest.

No areas at all?

A takeaway, a counter or an online shop needs none. Use counter orders instead. See Counter orders and kiosk.
